Why Anxiety Attacks

3 min read

I finally admitted I had an anxiety problem during the pandemic. However as I found out later it is something that has afflicted me for many years, I just didn’t call it anxiety. What I found helped was private anxiety counselling near me. Somebody who could understand me and guide me to a better place. Understanding my anxiety and what overcoming it would be like. We had a chat and found a direction for me to take. I can tell you first hand how helpful it was. I was diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder a couple of years ago and my anxiety got so bad that I almost couldn’t go to work. However, I did it the natural way and am now back to my old self. But it was worth it for the future.

I had one problem and that was I thought I couldn’t go to work. You see I have an anxiety attack and it doesn’t go away. It is part of my life. I am going to say something very shocking for me to say and let me just say it so you know the truth, but after doing research online, I found that most anxiety attacks or panic attacks are triggered by a certain situation. For example, you may think it is your adrenal gland because you are tired or you may think it is stress because you have a deadline. Then what I did was realised that most people have this issue and what I did was I noticed the days that my anxiety attack started was how many hours of sleep I had.

Now my theory is that you can have these attacks from how much sleep you get. If you sleep less than six hours then your chances of having an attack is increased. I don’t know about you but this seems logical to me. You can’t sleep late so what do you do if you are tired or have a stressful deadline? You go to bed. So you either have anxiety due to lack of sleep or anxiety due to something else. Now I am not saying you have to have a sleep disorder. But if you sleep less than six hours then you have an increased chance of having an anxiety attack. Now these aren’t scary to me. I am not the type that gets panicky if I don’t get enough sleep. But these would be devastating to most people who go out with low sleep. If you don’t sleep enough minutes then it is likely your anxiety will be over whelming. So it is wise to ensure you sleep if you can.

One thing I did over night to try and boost my sleep was I did the iron and fish oil diet. This has to be my favourite diet because it has all the nutrients I need. It also seems to kill any anxiety I may have before I even have an attack. So my theory is if I have an attack, then all I have to do is take the supplements and I knock it right out of the park. Now I do take the anti-anxiety supplements and they work great. So I try and stay away from foods that may make me have an anxiety attack and the ones I do take I eat in small amounts.

The way I see it is if you go to bed on time, are on a regular sleep schedule and also ingesting the right supplements your chances of having an anxiety attack are lessened. I don’t know about you, but I’d like to think I have helped my friends with anxiety so I hope this helped. Please let me know how this is working for you.
